Marcus R. Hartse added a blog post
Well, I've just added another painting to the site. That could be good or bad depending on one's point of view. It's called Modern Life and is just sort of a general comment about the nature of things as it exists today. It's not quite as frantic as…

What is your artistic style
Depends on my mood. I don't really have a style per se except that I work mainly in watercolor (although not nearly enough quantitatively speaking) and the style I use is fairly hard edged rather than the traditional wet-in-wet technique. I can do naturalistic sorts of things but like really graphic items a great deal. As far as subject matter I tend to focus on ideas and intellectually abstract ways of representing them. When dealing with the natural realm I have no special preference although I notice that I tend to focus in on limited areas more than broad expanses as I find the detail of microcosms more interesting to me personally than broad expanses and vistas. I appreciate other individuals being able to present those things however. I have no simplistic explanation to elucidate why I do what I do.
What is your artistic medium
As stated above my medium of choice tends to be watercolor although I have dabbled in oils, chalk and oil pastels, pencil, alkyd oils, colored pencil; well, about anything that lends itself to two dimensional work. I've done a tiny bit of silk screening and air brushing and also used to do quite a bit of ink work with traditional dipped ink pens and also technical pens. I always come back to the watercolor though as that's what I seem to be most comfortable with.

New Painting

Well, I've just added another painting to the site. That could be good or bad depending on one's point of view. It's called Modern Life and is just sort of a general comment about the nature of things as it exists today. It's not quite as frantic as the last piece but still kind of interesting. I also painted in a slightly different style than I usually do so that made things a little more entertaining. Doing things slightly differently than one is used to is really the only way to keep it inter… Continue

Thanks so much for responding. I was going through this Walt Whitman book I purchased from a thrift store that had notes in it. I thought they were beautiful, and googled the name on the inside cover. It's probably not you, but I'm glad I met you anyhow. I adore E. E. Cummings. I've never even heard of Theodore Roethke, though, but I will promise to read some of his poetry.
I will change my picture, however I am not an artist. I made this account solely for commenting you, but I definitely don't want to be a blue-headed alien.

I realize this will sound odd, but did you ever read Song of Myself by Walt Whitman?

Hey Marc, Two days in a row now, I have intended to lock myself up and get some work done for the show. Life and crap have interupted. I am looking forward to seeing your two new offerings in person. I wonder if Mark Browning has been working.

I will have to upload some images soon - have been remise on this as I want to re-take most of my work using a better camera. Will take a look at your other sites then.

I like your artwork , it's visually stimulating . The problem lies with the text being too small and not bold enough which is something to do with the limitations of the design of the site - perhaps Roger can do something to remedy it for you!!

Thanks Marcus. I have to admit, I haven't been out lately myself. To busy trying to make a living. I do love being outdoors with nature and capturing the moment.

Hi Marcus I had an Idea what do you think?
The Montana Artists Network was created to link artists throughout Montana in a central network to promote the arts in Montana. To join is totally FREE. You can create your own page and promote your art. You can create Blogs, Discussions and List Events. You can upload your photos, videos of your artwork to your page. The Network is open to anyone interested in promoting the Arts in Montana: Artists, Galleries, Art Organizations and Patrons of the Arts.

Why did I create the Montana Artists Network? After much thought and participation in other Artists Networks, I felt Montana Artists needed a site where they could easily communicate throughout the state with each other, share their ideas, artwork, and promote the arts in Montana globally.

In addition, cost and user friendly was a major factor in creating this site. The ning network is free and is easy to use. You have complete control over the content of your page. You can use the page editor to control the appearance and options you like. You can add other technical resources to your page like Twitter and many others.

As the de-facto site manager. I will do my best to address any suggestion you have. Please let me know how the site is working and if there are things we can do together to make the site better.

I look forward to promoting the arts in Montana with you.

David Eubank

You are very talented sir! Your style seems equally adept at capturing the wonderful in the day-to-day, aswell as some fantastical abstract expressionism... Thanks also for the kind words, always nice to hear from a fellow prog rock enthusiast. I find music can be a great inspiration.
