I was painting in oils too but wanted to avoid the turpentine smell! I'm use to acylic now but may go back again. The make of paints seems to vary quite a lot too.
Hi, you asked medium of the work I uploaded images of today - they're mostly acrylic on canvas (I tend to specify acrylic gel as I like working in translucent layers using gel additives to build up the paint layer gradually). The black and white pieces are in charcoal on paper.
I work wet into wet with oils all the way through. I address my paintings much like a writer would, in drafts. The first draft I just want to cover the canvas as quickly as possible with a large brush. The second draft, I adjust my shapes, values and colors. The third draft, I go to a smaller brush and begin defining the shaps a little bit more adding characture and spontineity with my brush work. This is a general assessment of my process

Well kinda close. Yes I am using a digital camera, which is a very modest small 'pistol' grip bridge cam. My current finances won't stretch to Photshop currently and i am still learning how to use it (slowly), so I use the effects features in a CD design package I use on my mac to get some of the effects.
