Hi Elaine,
The comments you received were very interesting for me as well. Comp, color I agree are very important, however I've found that something must inspire when I approach an abstract. I have also been trained and painted many years in represe…
It depends on the artist's goal. Is he/she painting for pleasure or painting hoping to sell. If selling is one's measure of success then marketing strategies are certainly more important. A good marketing strategy can sell most anything good or bad.
I know a lot of the suggestions have to do with the "randomness" of abstract painting but don't forget that although it's a deconstruction of reality it becomes it's own reality by creating a certain consistency of existence.
Good lord, that sounds…
If a person is interesttet in selling their artwork--marketing strategies are more iportant than the art itself. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is very very true. To get into the big leagues - one needs a manager so that person can concentra…
I live in Brevard, NC. I work at hom in my studio and in a gallery that's owned by an artists co-op - of which Im a member. We're proud of our gallery here in the mountains. I'm also represented by Wickwire Gallery in Hendersonville, NC. I'm inspired by the beauty of these glorious Blue Ridge Mountains.
Thanks for your comment Elaine, I apologise for my very late reply, I don't usually spend any time at all on this site but I've come back to revisit it with new eyes. Your work is very beautiful, I love the very subtle changes in tone between each flower petal.
Welcome Aboard Elaine. I only started this start 9.00pm GMT yesterday and I am proud to have so many artists join in such a short time. Although now semi-retired, I act as an artist recruiter for a couple of websites www.1066artgallery.co.uk and www.djk-aviation. I live in Hastings on the South Coast of England, you know, Battle of Hastings, William the Conqueror, 1066 and all that.I am a writer, I have a work of mine with my literary agent at the moment, It occurred to me that some sort of network was needed for artists, photographers, writers and poets to pool ideas, exchange views and promote their work. It is new and we will go along together, tell me what you require and we will see if we can do it. It is free, I know that artists are poor penniless souls working in lonely garrets, living on tins of cold baked beans, so I do not want to add to their worries. What I will do, as I have done before is to place the site in the view of art buyers, interior design companies and such like.Once again, welcome aboard. Roger W Povey
