Hello Annie,
I have been viewing your work here with great interest. I think you are lucky in that you have developed a recognized style that is both compelling and haunting to look at also somewhat naive in quality - you should stay with it especia…

At last the Turner Prize has been awarded to a truly talented creative artist for 2009. Well done to Richard Wright. Beautiful work!!!
Well I do think there is too much emphasis on getting an art degree. It can impress & usually helps to get a job! However a true artist should be able to draw well - it's a basic discipline sadly lacking now.
I paint in pastel, watercolour and acrylic . My style is mostly representational
using painterly techniques. At the moment I am illustrating for a children's book with stylized characters - a new direction for me and great fun to do.
What is your artistic medium
At the moment, acrylic mostly then followed by watercolour , pastel and sometimes gouache.

Well, thank you for the kind comment abouit my artwork. It doesn't seem to matter what medium I use, it always seems to come out looking about the same :-)
I suppose I could go back and reset my whole page and see if there are any variations on the fonts and sizes. It's been a while again since I really looked. I'm on this site and MySpace and Facebook with MySpace seeming to be the only one with some variations on the font sizes, colors and boldness. Unfortunately that site has changed it's parameters making it hard for me to make the site more individualistic as far as using my own stuff. At least here I can still put my painting up there as a background. www.myspace.com/hartseart
You won't see anything new, but you might get a little better idea of what I'm like at least. Take care and put up some of your work. I'm curious. In fact, I need to check again right now.
I know it's difficult to read through the artwork. I've been thinking of changing it to something bland again. I just like a visual excitement. I'll probably be changing it soon but thanks for saying something. I'm not purposely trying to be obtuse.
Welcome Aboard. I only started this start 9.00pm GMT Thursday 23rd October 2008 and I am proud to have so many artists join in such a short time. Although now semi-retired, I live in Hastings on the South Coast of England, you know, Battle of Hastings, William the Conqueror, 1066 and all that. I am a writer.
It occurred to me that some sort of network was needed for artists, photographers, writers and poets to pool ideas, exchange views and promote their work. It is new and we will go along together, tell me what you require and we will see if we can do it. It is free; I know that artists are poor penniless souls working in lonely garrets, living on tins of cold baked beans, so I do not want to add to their worries. What I will do, as I have done before is to place the site in the view of art buyers, interior design companies and such like. If you wish to change the theme/style of your page, click on change theme on the left hand side of your page. If any of your friends and relations are artists, writers, poets, sculptors, in fact anything artistic, let them know they would be most welcome to join the site. Once again, welcome aboard.
