Margaret, I will look at your website and the details of the Prague trip, sounds really good, I have been meaning to get back with you on my trip to Big Bend. I actually have 4 of the paintings in a show at the Southwest Gallery in Dallas. You can google itthen go to the Outdoor Painters Society Show page.

Chase, this sounds awesome! I feel like I belong there; with artists and out in nature. Some time will join you. Have a wonderful week! Tell us about it when you get home, and show us what you came up with.

I am going to Big Bend National Park to paint next Saturday, Nov. 7. Will probably stay the week. I have been there several times, is one of my favorite places to paint. You are all welcome to join me, if you are interested, I can give you info on where to stay etc. Chase

Thank you ,Margaret I'd love to go but can't get out of gallery . Luckily we've had some successes this summer and feel I've got to be there when the patrons come in . The biz of selling art versus making art comes into play . I think I've only painted on location two or three times this summer and I've started teaching which takes even more time . I know dial 1-800-WAAH, later. Walter

Is anyone interested in a plein air experience in Prague, Czech Republic? I am living in Prague a few months each year and know the city very well. I could set everything up including lodging, locations and an instructor, the fabulous Rod Cameron. Let me know.

The best umbrella I have used is the one sold by Easy-L it attaches to the tripod leg and is 'shock-corded ' to give if a strong gust blows. Kind of pricey about 75.00 but I have had one for 3 years.

Thank you Durinda , I'll have to check it out as we've got a Jerry's in Prov. here . My plein aire set up is getting to the max with play pen for dog .
I have one of those rubbermaid large storage crates with wheels that I use when I'm outdoors and have taken it over some pretty tough terrain . Everything fits inside tho I had to make a small hole to get umbrella to fit and it's still pretty weather tight . The case doubles as a table top when painting and I made an extension handle to make pulling it easier as well . Fits right in the back of the wagon I've got and I'm ready to go .
I was part of a group that went to Cutty Hunk Isl on a painting trip several years ago and was first time out with this set-up . Was laughed at at first but as weather worsened folks saw the value of it as my case was continually left outdoors to make room for things that couldn't get wet . The boat ride from the Island back to New Bedford was a hoot as eveything was piled into the cabin of a small lobster boat . My case stayed out on the transom in thirty mph winds and a following sea and it was fine .

I just sent Jan a response on the umbrella. I ordered one from Jerry's Artarama, but they are sold on other sites as well. It is called a ShadeBuddy and has a stake to drive into the ground. Not much help on concrete in the city. My Soltek holds up well in the wind and I have an Anderson now that also is very stable.
