laughter

Laughter is of course one of the best natural medicines around, it’s important to be able to laugh at life and self even with disability related issues.

The house phone had been ringing constantly with it’s attached red light flashing repeatedly. My daughter was upstairs so I decided to answer it myself but couldn’t understand a thing the caller was saying, rather than admit I couldn’t hear I covered the problem by saying.
“Sorry, what was that? Can you repeat that please?” I’d rep… Continue

Trouble at The Badger's Snatch

One was involved in a rather alarming experience this morning.

It was a misty morning in the village and the myriad of moisture droplets were hanging over the grounds here at Crusty Hall. They looked saturated, sad and as though the colour had been drained from them by Mother Nature’s vaccum cleaner.

Chu Me had arisen early and tended to the fires in the principle rooms. Exiting the rear of the residence, he made his way to the side of the stables where he kept his hens. His li… Continue

When senses die

Life is such a precious commodity for all it’s trial and woes this planet we inhabit briefly contains beauty beyond description, I‘ve never ceased loving life appreciating my good fortune and marvelling the way each new day brings new discoveries and experiences. The nature of every species is to survive and overcome, so faced with decreasing hearing I responded in the only way I could think of, ignoring it, pretending nothing was amiss and sometimes I succeeded very well few could guess I had p… Continue

and so it goes...

’ve a vast wealth of memories from my youth, hanging out with a
collection of notable celebrities and their offspring’s, camping beside
salt lakes at the edge of the Great Western Desert, swimming with
sharks off the coast of Cape Town, rummaging for bargains in the huge
markets of Bombay. My favourite memories are purely simplistic. Panning
for gold in the rivers of Western Australia with my father and
brothers, never finding that evasive crock of gold but seeing, hearing
and savouring the natu… Continue

Evidently blogging is therapeutic.
I’m convinced I have a story to tell, nothing marvellously unique and certainly not imaginative but I lack confidence in ability to deliver it in an intelligible manner, mind you I lack confidence in many area’s nowadays, perhaps my story will reveal the reasons.

Life has been amazingly varied for me not always kind, sometimes unusual but hardly repetitive. The only daughter of two genuine adventures, my two brothers and I travelled the world with… Continue

Just rambling on...

So it seems I’ve now joined the blog world and can happily plonk away on the keyboard blissfully unaware if anyone apart from myself will read my input.
I don’t profess to be a good, skilled or particularly imaginative writer, but I do admit to having a love of words and the marvellously endlessly varied use of them. Words written or spoken are the basic root of human communication, the pen can indeed be mightier than the sword, a carefully or carelessly chosen word uttered by the powers th… Continue

What makes someone an artist?

I have not yet dared to call myself an artist, although I long to be one? What makes an artist?

Skill? Passion? Confidence?

qualifications? Bare faced cheek? - Maybe a bit of all of those things..

The website has allowed me to see the extra ordinary contrasts in style, subject matter and techniques, which started me thinking who has the right to judge & why?

Are there guide lines?

What qualifications do art critics have oth

Helping Those In Need.

I took a gentle saunter,
Along the cliffs last night,
When I came across a gentleman,
He gave me quite a fright.

I thought I was alone up there,
Just me and a star-filled sky,
Until I saw his silhouette
Out of the corner of my eye.

He was standing very near the edge,
Motionless and looking down
And as I sashayed to the side of him
I made out his troubled frown.

Crusty's Christmas Poem

All that I remember
From that freezing Christmas Eve,
Was standing at the window,
In a dressing gown, I believe.
As I released the tied back curtains
And closed the vertical blind,
There was only one important question
Running through my mind.
Is there really such a person
As the legend, Santa Claus?
Does he really come down chimneys?
… Does he never use the doors?
Then suddenly, there came a crash and
I was knocked towards
