Penny Legg

Penny Legg - New to this!

I have to confess that when Roger invited me to join Arts for Arts Sake I was not sure how it would take off and what benefit, if any, there would be for me to join. I seem to spend a lot of my time writing blogs or responding to Face Book, that I was not sure if I wanted any more. But, I liked the idea. A site for artists in the true sense of the word.

Let's face it, how many of us are complete mysteries to our family? My father asks how the 'little job' is going and my mother keeps asking me… Continue

Poetry: Cherry-Blossoms Falling Like Snow

Cherry-Blossoms Falling Like Snow
by Gordon Coombes

I
In the glow of street-lights
snow falls
melts on our skin
turned to ice
our hearts are broken
shattered by the weight of Cherry-blossoms
falling as thick as snow-

glowing hot embers
inside us
children of fire
children of ice-

brutal sharp edged
ice cold dreams & delusions
take the axe to the ice
inside
our spirit frozen over
lingering lurking
in a few thin centimeters
in the folds of mud
at the bottom
beneath a mile deep frozen ocean-… Continue

Free Short Story Writing Contest TRAVEL STORIES – win cash with your story

While traveling we always have new experiences, whether they are amazing, life changing or just disillusioning. Tell us your travel story. It may deal with a travel journey to a new place, time traveling, revisiting one's past, visiting a lost love or a new one, or an inner journey. Travel reports can be as much about one's internal navigation of their emotions as a physical voyage.

There is currently running a free-to-enter short story contest on BookRix for writers and readers. The theme is "… Continue

Living in Florida

Wow! Florida is sooo hot! And I'm not even in the hottest area! Right now plein aire painting is better as it is lots cooler-in the seventies. Now I just have to find all my stuff and get out there. Everything is in boxes and they are piled up all over our small rental. We are working on a house however. Made an offer. Now just waiting as it is a short sale. I will have my own room with a closet and a nearby bathroom to clean brushes, get water, etc. Pretty good light-though it could be better.… Continue

Poem: Outside the Windy City

Outside the Windy City
lives the Lady Finnegan -
Carol dearly loves the Lord Jehovah
and is a part of His earthly plan.

Her heart has been pierced
by God's Holy Spirit;
for she placed her life before Him
and has chosen to submit.

Her adoration for the King
has burst forth with heart's joy,
from reading her great nephew's literature
within the borders of Illinois.

Now she's become God's messenger
via her gifts of Joe's Christian poetry -
For the fragrance of God's Love
envelopes her with scrip… Continue

Spanish Village Art Center in San Diego

I just juried into the SVAC Association! I am quite excited about the idea of joining this group and perhaps being able to join another artist in their studio or even possbilby having my own studio. You can visit this organization and see what the SVAC is all about at http://www.spanishvillageart.com. It is truely amazing.
